A project about narration and time
17 Mar 2008 - 30 Jun 2008
Curated by
26cc
From March on until May, 26cc will host Sensitive Timelines, a project about narration and time that will develop into a series of multidisciplinary events.
The project starts from a reflection about narrative structures and their use within video art, then to extend the topic to other languages and disciplines; the discussion will spread through elaboration spaces, that would open the topic to other discursive and practical articulations.
Video, by its nature, combines the suggestion of image with a logical structure which is near to written language. It is interesting to notice that the practices by some young artists have moved to an investigation of these structures, an analysis that goes through a fragmentation of the linguistic structure as well as a contamination with elements between fiction and documentary. To use the rules of scripting but upsetting its semantics are common aspects of these practices, that denotes a meta-linguistic and research approach.
The purpose of the project is to investigate some of these aspects by inquiring other pertaining languages and disciplines. The articulation of the project is directed to the creation of an articulated event, both in temporal and physical spaces: a workshop, several public meetings, presentations and screenings, a permanent documentary platform and an exhibition.
